Description

This class presented by fourth-generation dumpling maker Angie Chong proves that the best things come in small (and delectable) packages. Engage in the story of the humble dumpling; from sourcing the best ingredients, preparing the dough and fillings, and techniques for rolling, wrapping, cooking and - most importantly - eating.

Learn how to wield those tiny rolling pins and use sustainable and locally-sourced ingredients to create your own little dough-wrapped parcels.Angie and her charismatic assistant Toshi will also demonstrate how to make Japanese gyoza, or ‘potsticker’ dumplings. BYO wine or beer and connect with other dim sum devotees over your freshly-made dumplings: the perfect Friday night alternative to the pub.

About Angie Chong

AngieChong’s food pedigree is impressive, to say the least. She learned to cook from her mother, the prodigious Elizabeth Chong: celebrity chef, TV personality, food writer and teacher. Elizabeth was taught by her father, William Wing Young, inventor of the DimSim in the 1940s.Angie is a trained chef instructor, and established the Asian Cooking Department at William Angliss Institute where she taught for nearly 20 years.

Angie loves dumplings - preparing them, cooking them, and eating them. They are designed to be shared, and Angie has set out to spread the love with her business The Humble Dumpling, for lovers of all those little parcels that dot the heart.

22 January 2018 • DIY Dumplings!

Angie is the nicest person! She wants to share with you her story, love for and experience with cooking Asian food. Even though we had a big group of 16, we all got to do something and even rotate so we could learn different skills. Toshi was a great assistant too! You will definitely NOT be hungry after the dumplings have been cooked. And the company was great; it was nice meeting to new people.
